"Finding Anastasia Romanov" Part 2 (12/28/06)

Scene Three: The Mansion

Kahn replies to Jason in Japanese while pulling the hood up on his darksuit, "I suppose I am as ready as I will ever be friend. Let us begin this symphony of brutality!"

Jack studies the battle field before him. How much distance between the house and the fence. How much distance from Gospog to the fence, is that within their small weapons range? Will his rifles' ranges give him an advantage should this become a firefight? He reports anything he surmises to help his leader, Andrew, make his command decision.

There is about 91 meters to the fence from your current position; There is close to 64 meters between the fence and the mansion; The gospog are scattered at various lengths throughout the yard ranging from close to the house to close to the fence. They are spread out - not clustered together. -- left this information in for reference this round.

"Well, I'd rather not split the group--don't need half of us to get captured or killed while the other half meets their objective, necessitating yet another rescue mission," Andrew replies to Jason. "However, we may need to go with that plan--not yet, though." Andrew looks at Jack. "How fast can you get about with that grapple? I think they'll be expecting the fence to be breached, and we'll need another option in case we can't leave through the gate or a breach in the gate."

Jack replies, "In the proper environment, I can outpace anything short of high speed vehicles. For ferrying over the fence purposes, it'd be one at a time, very slow. If I was the distraction, I could be pretty mobile for regrouping purposes. As for leaving, if we find a chopper, I can pilot it."

Andrew then looks at Jason and Kahn. "As for distractions, I'm thinking something a bit more... psychic in nature. Perhaps if you two could use your abilities to draw the `Pogs attention elsewhere without having to physically be elesewhere may be handy."

Andrew then turns his attention to Liza Beth. "We'll need to be the ones keeping an eye out for the others, since we're the most familiar with them."

"You got it, and I still have the smoke bombs if we need some cover to get in or out of here," says Liza Beth as she geats ready for them to move.

Andrew studies the area for a moment, then looks back at the team. "OK, let's find a good entry point AWAY from the old breach in the fence, preferably somewhere where we can get to cover or the mansion quickly after getting by the fence. Our main objective is rescuing the others, but we need to be careful--this Oliver Blackwind may anticipate rescue efforts. For all we know, there could be decoys in there to make us think we're rescuing the team & just have us walk into a trap."

"Once we're inside, we need to figure out how to get out with the team. I want everyone to keep their eyes open for resources we can use--an escape vehicle, explosives to breach the fence, a good distraction to keep the guards away or prevent pursuit, anything that can help. Let's get going."

Andrew continues examining the area trying to find a strategic entrance point. The fence is pretty heavy duty, getting through it could be problematic, over it probably much easier. The easiest place to breach looks like the original breach point -- the welds will be weaker than the rest of the fencing. Andrew doesn't see any good location to breach from that will alllow them to avoid the gospog. They might have better luck around back, but getting there without being spotted will be exceptionaly difficult. Once they leave the minor cover that this copse of trees is providing them, they will be pretty much out in the open.

Markson mentions, "Bear in mind, with a post for cover, I can take care of the Gospog with my superior weapon range, I've double their range, and pack a bigger kick." With the last comment he pats his larger machine gun on his back. He still holds his M-16, only somewhat concealed by the doctor's coat. "Any way you look at it, we need to move soon, this position is way to open for my tastes."

The gospog continue to trudge around the mansion's yard, not staying stationary most of the time. One of the gospog seems to have moved up into a position right in front of the dorrs to the mansion.

No cards were played into the combat pool because combat has not yet begun. You can only play cards into your card pool when you actually advance a scene, and right now you are all still in the planning stages with no one having made a move yet.

"Then on your word; I go." Jason readies both wakazashi in hands and prepares to jump the fence. Playing the Action card with Acrobatics, to jump over the wall when ready. I figure to 'Strider Jump' between fence posts to go up and over.) At which time I'll close with the first Gospog.

Andrew looks at the others, then at the ninjas. "Go when you're ready--we'll follow accordingly."

Once you make your presence known, combat rounds start which means that cards can only be played out of your pool. Since you can't play cards into your card pool until the end of the round, you wouldn't be able to use the Action card this round. When the first person starts to move I will do a perception check to see if you are noticed. If you are, then at that point Initiative rounds begin. If the perception check fails, then you still enter combat rounds, but you get a free round without an initiative card flip. Either way, cards cannot be played from hands to enhance combat performance. You will, however, need to start declaring the cards you want to put into your pool for the round.

Also, I have added your movement rates to your character sheet. Because of this, I have changed the measurements that Jack Markson had estimated from yards to meters above.

Jack looks at the Ninja charging into combat, "Well, so much for the distraction plan." He hands his M-16 to Andrew, "lay down for cover from the Gospogs, you and I can support our melee team from here and join up after the shrubbery is dead."

Jack removes his coat and Super Joe's machine gun, laying on the ground to provide support and cover fire to the ninjas. "Liza you might want to go and help the pajama boys out in close combat, especially since they prove so able to follow orders and a plan." play card 141 into my pool please

Kahn clears the fence with Jason and begins to wreck havok on the nearest gospog.Play card 38 into my combat pool

Liza Beth nods and says "You got it."and then starts to make her way over the fence and and once over the fence she quickly draws her sword and will attack the nearest gospog to her.
